Hi everyone!

I have many exciting updates to share with you guys. We completed this year's January Bridal Extravaganza yesterday. It was a success! The turn out was great and sharing the excitement with you guys was even better. We ran into some old friends and some friends of old friends. :) A quick hi to Audra. We did a mommy and me shoot last year with her son Anthony. She showed me a picture of him at the show and I couldn't believe how big he got over the past year! Another quick hi to Delain and Newt. Unfortunately, I wasn't at the show Saturday because I was shooting a wedding in Laredo, but I was told that two different groups of Delain and Newt fans stopped by when they saw a canvas from their wedding hanging on our wall. :)

I have to say this year show was the best yet. By the end of the day Sunday, I was exhausted but I had a blast. The show was fun. Traveling to Laredo for Priscilla and Jose's wedding was great. And after getting some much needed sleep last night, I am ready for another full week. And on that note, here are some of the improvements that are coming your way...

We are currently changing the entire layout of the website. You will see a notice on the home page stating that the website is under construction. Which basically means, some of the links might not work and the latest photos have not been added yet. Once we're done with the new design, everything will go up at once. So in the meantime, thank you for being patient and check the blog often for updates.

In other news, we now offer online viewing and ordering through Pictage. This option is included in our new packages. If you've recently had a wedding or you have one coming up but you signed with us a while back with our old prices and you'd like to offer your guests online viewing and ordering, we'd love to extend this offer to you as well. Give us a ring and we'll talk about your options.

We have new books! And they're included in the new packages! Although I'm super-excited about all of our changes, I think this one is my favorite. We have recently hooked up with a great company called Forbeyon to offer you one-of-a-kind handmade flushmount books as well perfect and linear bound ones. All of our packages (except Package 1) now come with a flushmount book. Here's what you get: a handmade flushmount book with photos of your choice, Italian leather cover, cameo (cover image) with a photo of your choice, or if you're not into the whole leather thing we can give you a photowrap cover or one of the other non-leather options, your book will also include a designer slipcover tailored to fit your book. Naturally, I'm a nerd when it comes to photo/film stuff but I'm completely in love with these things. I'll posting sample photos of them soon so stay tuned!

Oh and with the new website, I'll be getting a new blog that is actually on my website. I have nothing against blogspot but it does NOT treat my photos nice. :( Everything I post ends up losing quality and color. That's right, all the photos you're seeing on here aren't actually in their original color format, they're faded. So I'm looking forward to sharing my photos with you guys the way they're supposed to be.

As I mentioned above, we do have new wedding packages now. The new packages include at least a Bridal or an Engagement session, some come with both. And all packages now come with 2 photographers, myself and an associate. And since we're doing the online viewing thing now, that's included in all of the packages as well. We will also give you 100 personalized event cards to give to your guests so they'll know where to go to find your photos. These are just some of the things that come with the new packages. Swing by our prices page to see everything that's included.

We are also hoping to do a lot more traveling this year. The flat travel fee of $550 still applies to all of the packages for weddings outside of our free travel area (Texas and some surrounding areas). So if you live around like us but want to get married elsewhere but you don't want to deal with having separate photographers for your engagement/bridal and wedding, this is the way to go. :) We love seeing new places! Take us with you. :)

I absolutely adore outdoor weddings! In my opinion, the pictures always turn out great and everyone seems to have more fun.

Krista and Sam's wedding was one of these outdoor weddings that I enjoy so much. :) They got married at The Winfield Inn in Kyle.

The sky was cloudy all day but I was sure it wasn't going to rain...until two minutes before I left my house. It started pouring! But the lucky thing is by the time I got to the inn, it stopped. And then it started sprinkling again. :) We basically played hide and seek with the rain until the reception. We weren't sure if the wedding was going to take place at the gazebo or in the reception area until the very last minute. Krista decided it wasn't that bad outside so gazebo it was. The sprinkling got a bit heavier around the time the ceremony started but that just created great photo-ops. Just look at the umbrellas. :)

By the end of the ceremony, we all got a little wet but it was so gorgeous outside that no one seemed to mind. I think it just made it more romantic and happy. Remember how fun it was to play in the rain as a kid? That's exactly how it was!

Laura & Wade

Wade and Laura found me about a month before their wedding. Because their wedding was so small, they weren't going to have a photographer but at the last minute decided they didn't want to miss out on the memories. :)

The ceremony took place on the front lawn of the American Legion Hall and the reception on the second floor of the main building.

Laura and Wade were so cute together. They looked so happy!

Chrissy's Bridals

Chrissy got her dress the day before this shoot. We had two weeks until the big day so there was no time to waste! And I'm happy to say we made it. The photos are all edited and the canvas Chrissy picked out for the reception is in production.

To our luck, our shoot day turned out to be the only day of the week that brought heavy storms. Which of course meant no outside shots.

But the Capitol is so beautiful, we had no problem finding cool backdrops inside.

I think you can see the rain through the skylight here.

I can't wait to see the canvas at the reception. I'm sure it's going to turn out great!

AJ & Paul

AJ and Paul tied the knot on May 2nd at St. Theresa's, then had a cozy lunch party at Chez Zee. They wanted to keep their wedding very small so they invited only those who were very close to them. So the whole affair was very intimate. Those are the best. Big parties are fun but small weddings are so much more emotional.

I love it when churches have huge stained glass windows. They make the photos look so classic.

Lubbock, TX

I always like booking weddings in Lubbock because it means I get to see friends and visit my old hang-outs. So it's safe to say that this last minute addition to my calendar was more than welcome.

Alexandria and Ray tied the knot in Lubbock's Baker Building on March 6. It was a beautiful little ceremony in one of my favorite Lubbock buildings.

Oh yeah and they had a candy table where the guests could fill their paper bags with all kinds of candies out of old school candy jars. Needless to say the candy table was more popular than the cake table. :)

Commerce, TX

I've been in the Dallas area many times before but I've never ventured towards the Commerce area, so I've never seen Rockwall or the amazing lake it sits on. The drive was beautiful. Commerce had that small town charm. And Meredith and Ryan's families were very welcoming. I was part of the entire event, starting with the rehearsal dinner and ending with the reception. It truly was a wonderful weekend.

Bridal Lunch

These journals were a gift from Meredith's mom. Everyone at the bridal lunch received one, including myself. :) They're meant to be used throughout one's marriage. Each spouse writes a letter to the other every year and they're all stored in this beautiful journal. Isn't that a fantastic idea?

I met Meredith and her fiance, Ryan, last summer when I took their engagement photos and booked their February 28th wedding date. The reason we waited so long to do Meredith's bridal photos is because her dress actually did not come in until last Saturday. So last Sunday was pretty much our only option. We planned on using two locations: AMOA and Stephen F. Austin. Sadly, both fell through on the day of the shoot and we ended up at the Capitol...during the Austin Marathon. It was certainly an eventful day. :) But I'm happy to say we ended up with some beautiful shots. And now I impatiently wait until next weekend when I will get to capture Meredith and Ryan's wedding in Commerce, TX.

Teresa & Kyle

I've been so busy since the Bridal Show that I was barely able to finish editing Teresa and Kyle's photos just a few days ago. My usual turnaround time is two weeks, so it was very difficult for me to see my deadline go past me and not be able to do anything about it. Nevertheless, the photos are done, mailed, and possibly being viewed as I type this.

Teresa and Kyle tied the knot on January 3rd. It was my first wedding of the year and it was wonderful. The wedding took place in a little town outside of College Station called Franklin. I had never been there before so I was completely surprised to see zero bars on my cell phone the entire time. But I managed to survive nonetheless. :) It was a charming little town. I love shooting weddings in towns I've never been to before. The whole thing becomes a new experience in its own right.

Bridal Extravaganza - Part 2

I would like to start out by thanking all of you who stopped by our booth. It was great meeting you all, even if we only had a few minutes to chat.

The show was a success. From the looks of our calendar now, it's going to be a busy year. But the weekend wasn't all about work of course. It was also about food. :) Oh yes, I personally tasted many many wonderful dishes...and cakes. I think cakes are my favorite part of bridal shows. :)

Overall, this was a wonderful experience and definitely a great first bridal show for Stardust. You can count on seeing us again at the next show.

Ashley & Robert

Ashley is an old friend of...well an old friend. And that's precisely how I ended up being her and Robert's photographer. They got hitched last weekend at Texas Women's University in Denton. I had never been on that campus before and let me tell you it's gorgeous. The hot and sunny day soon gave way to a very cold and windy afternoon, but we managed to got some very beautiful shots outside before the reception.

And me being the wanderlust that I am, I of course took advantage of being in Dallas. I did some exciting post-Christmas shopping, did some sightseeing, and had an amazing dinner at a very delicious restaurant off of Lovers Ln to end a great day. Gotta love out-of-town weddings. :)

The Capitol and Congress

Ahhh, nothing like fall in Austin.... Well, technically it was winter when we did this shoot last weekend but it sure felt like fall. I love the yellow leaves on the Capitol grounds. They make everything look so...harvesty. :)

Jonathan's family was in town from California for the holidays. So our only opportunity for a family photo shoot was the Saturday before Christmas. We were on a very tight schedule but a little hard work definitely paid off.

We had a lot of fun walking the streets of Austin, picking out cool spots. At the end of the session, we realized we had walked over 2 miles that morning. Talk about a workout!

Mommy and Me

I had a date with the cutest boy this weekend.... :)

I met Anthony and his mom Audra about a week before our photo shoot. Fell in love with both. Anthony was such a good baby while Audra and I talked details over coffee. Right then I knew we were going to have a blast on our shoot.

We, then, made our way down to The Driskill and eventually SoCo.

SoCo still remains to be one of my all time favorite backdrops in Austin. I can't get enough of those colorful walls. They bring out the inner hippie in all of us. :)

To the Edge of Texas and Back...

I was lucky enough to be part of a beautiful wedding in Orange, TX last weekend. When I spoke with Louis and Marisa on the phone before, I had no idea how far east this little town was. 20 more minutes and I would've been in Louisiana. It's happy discoveries like this that make my job great. I love road trips. I love visiting new places. I love meeting new people. This is one of the reasons why I don't charge for travel in the surrounding areas. I see every out-of-town wedding as an opportunity for a new adventure.

The ceremony took place at sunset so by the time we got around to taking pictures of the newlyweds the sun was almost gone, but we managed to capture the painting-like horizon in the background. Round Rock photo shoot

This photo shoot gave me the perfect excuse to try the Travel Channel famous Round Rock golden donuts. I picked up a few before the shoot and suddenly the hurricane weather (thanks to Ike) or the early morning drive from downtown Austin didn't seem so bad. If you're ever in Round Rock, you must try them...even if you're not a huge donut fan. They're delicious! I really should've taken a picture of the donuts too. :)

Amber & Curtis

I did a last minute wedding this weekend. I don't do many of those but this couple had special circumstances so I couldn't say no. :) Amber called me a couple of weeks ago and luckily I had this weekend open (mostly because it was my birthday weekend). Curtis is an amateur basketball player so he travels all over the world whenever his agent sets him up with a game. Because of this, Amber and Curtis didn't have the luxury of setting a date a year ahead of time to plan; they only had two weeks. So when Amber told me about this, I, of course, had to accept.

They had a small church wedding on August 30, followed by a cute reception. I don't think anyone could've done a better job in two weeks.

Congratulations Amber and Curtis! You two have fun touring Europe together. :)

Work has been way too crazy to manage this blog lately. But better late than never, right? Here is a few pictures from Britney and Todd's wedding on August 16.

The ceremony and the reception took place in the same gorgeous room. I thought that was very unique and, let's face it, very easy on the guests.

In addition to the Bride's cake, every table had its own single tier cake. And since there were so many left over, guests got to take them home. Now, that's a brilliant idea. :)

After the ceremony, we went outside to take some newlywed pictures before we walked over to the nearby reception location, which was a gorgeous two-story event space.

Cactus Cuties were on the program as well as other well-known Cactus Theatre performers.

Beautiful day, beautiful wedding, fun reception, a wonderful couple. Can't ask for more. :)

Amber & Scott

I met Amber and Scott in person for the first time yesterday. They had been planning their wedding from their current state of residence, Kansas, so everything had to be done over the phone. I met Amber first at her salon and Scott when we arrived at the church. I have to say they were one of the sweetest couples ever. Amber spent the entire day making sure everyone was happy instead of letting everyone else take care of her. She was wonderful to work with!

The ceremony was beautiful, the entire wedding party was a blast to hang out with, reception was a big party with a live band and lots of dancing...and the two-year-old nephew of the Bride, who joined the band on stage with his wooden guitar. He was beyond adorable. :)

Rock on, Dylan! And with a name like that, you will. :)

I met up with Amber and Scott again today to give them the raw images from their wedding. I don't normally do that because I'd like to make sure every image is in its best form before I let anyone view them, but I made an exception for Amber and Scott. They wanted to have something to look at on their honeymoon. They were too sweet to say no to. :) And until they return from their honeymoon, these teaser blog pictures will have to do.

I had a family portrait session in Lubbock Sunday. We used two different locations (Texas Tech campus and Garden & Art Center) with a rain delay in the middle. The overcast sky did keep us cool, though, so we were all very happy. :)

Meredith & Ryan's Engagement

Meredith and Ryan met at the Hill's Cafe on Congress, so they wanted their engagement shoot to take place in that area. Great choice. I love downtown.

I had such a fun time at this shoot. There's nothing like seeing the couple you're working with let go and enjoy themselves. It's so much easier to be creative when everyone is in sync.

We went up and down Soco, using all of its coolness as our backdrop.

During our shoot, we ran into this adorable dog. Apparently, she had some eye disease that could make her blind if she stayed out in the sun too long, so she had to wear these goggles whenever she went out for a walk. I felt so bad! It was such a cute dog. So we took a minute to take some pictures with her.

Our last stop was of course Hill's Cafe. Their backyard was full of rustic things to work with. Ryan knows the manager, so they let us run free for as long as we wanted.

Meredith and Ryan will be getting married on Feburary 28th and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding. It's going to be a blast!

Cassandra & Cody

Cassandra and Cody had a small and sweet church wedding in Lubbock on June 21st.

We were planning on going to The Embassy Suites (they have beautiful indoor waterfalls and plants) after the ceremony but Cassandra and Cody didn't want to neglect their guests, so we used the exterior of the church for some cute shots.

This is one of the cutest babies I've ever seen. He was the star of the reception.

Delain & Newt - June 7, 2008

This couple was one of the most fun I've ever worked with. They were so nice and easy going. Their wedding felt more like a party than a formal event.

The chosen location for the festivities was Hideout On The Horseshoe. For those of you who are not familiar with this cabin resort, it is located right on the Gudalupe River in New Braunfels and it is absolutely gorgeous.

This is one of my favorite shots from the ceremony. So adorable!

Aside from taking place at a major toobing spot, this was also a Bluegrass wedding. See what I mean about this being a big party? :) So the Groom, Ringbearers, and the Flower Girl were dressed up in awesomely cool cowboy outfits.

The reception was held in the pavilion overlooking the Guadalupe. A local Bluegrass band was provided the soundtrack of the evening.

And fun cakes satisfied the guests' sweet tooth. Check out the wedding cake topper and the armadillo shaped Groom's cake, which doubled as a birthday cake for one Ringbearers.

I wish I could post more pictures from this wedding, especially from the "newlyweds shoot" we did right after the ceremony, but this will have to do for now. You can always check out the main website for more pictures from this and other recent weddings.

Here's one more for the road. :)

Bridal Extravaganza

I went to the Austin Bridal Extravaganza for the first time today. I had been in contact with the very helpful Beth about possibly having a Stardust Photography booth there, but timing didn't work so she invited me to the show to take a look around and get an idea about what I wanted to do for next time.

It honestly exceeded my expectations. I got there right before the doors opened and still had to wait in line. It was nice mingling with all the prospective brides, though...and grooms. There were more guys than I thought there would be. Good job ladies for convincing your men to plan with you. :)

So if you're going to the show in February, you just might see a Stardust booth out there. :)

Dixie & Anthony

When I first met Dixie over lunch on Greenville (Dallas), I knew I wanted to be part of her wedding. She was so sweet and head over heels in love.

Dixie and Anthony tied the knot at The Village Country Club (Dallas) on May 3rd. I love outdoor weddings!

The Groom and the Groomsmen decided they wanted to do the quintessential wedding party shot: Reservoir Dogs. :) And who can blame them, really?

This has become one of my all time favorite garter toss shots. He definitely was happy to catch it.

Mark's Senior Portraits

Mark and I hit the Depot District in Lubbock for his senior portraits.

We also went by the Texas Tech Heritage Center for a few shots. I decided a mixture of urban and country would reflect Mark's personality the best.

I was extremely happy with the outcome of this shoot. This is my favorite shot from that day. It kind of reminds me of those old movie posters.

Sam & James - March 12, 2008

I booked this wedding through Pampered Bride Weddings. Yes, the same company featured on Style Network. Jenny found me all the way from New Jersey. What are the odds of two Yanks coming together at a pure country wedding? It was a day to remember, that's for sure!

Sam is a huge fan of Disney so I had to take a Disney princess shot. :)

We took some pictures of the boys while the girls got ready...

After the ceremony, I took Sam and James around the grounds for a quick newlyweds session before heading inside for the reception.

It was all a big party after that...

Even Jenny joined in on the fun. :)

National Association for Girls & Women in Sports

I don't do a lot of events due to time constraints but some are too interesting to turn down. This convention at Hilton Fort Worth was one of them. I was only there Friday since I had a wedding in Mesquite the next day, but I was lucky enough to catch the best part...this lady...

That is Rutgers women's basketball head coach Vivian Stringer. She gave a speech and then did a book signing. It was pretty cool to meet her.

Between conferences, I walked around the hotel to take random pictures. Someone had mentioned a JFK connection to this hotel before but I didn't put the two and two together until I noticed this wall. This is where JFK had stayed the night before he got shot in Dallas. Myself and apparently many others were under the impression that JFK had arrived in Dallas that morning, not the day before. I guess I need to brush up on my history.

The hotel was very beautifully decorated. These chandeliers hung over the lounge area, which was topped with a huge skylight. I love skylights.

Mary & Cody

Mary and Cody had a small church wedding in Lubbock on March 8, 2008.

The Groom and the Best Man were big Guitar Hero fans, so this is how they killed time before the ceremony. How cool is that?

The reception was held in the church gym. At one point, a good number of the wedding party disappeared; but I cleverly located them behind the partitions where the basketball posts were hidden. A picture is worth a thousand words...

Chapel Dulcinea, right outside of Austin, was the location of this beautiful sunset wedding.

We did miss most of daylight due to a late start, but we managed to capture some great moments.

Michelle and Eric were married February 16, 2008 (Valentine's Day weekend!) in an adorable little church in Pflugerville and had their reception at The Chateau on the Creek in Round Rock.

Luckily, the weather was nice enough for us to take advantage of the Chateau's beautiful garden. And we made it there right before sunset!

The reception was a blast. Everyone stayed until the very last song.

Emily's bridals

Emily wanted to get her Bridal portraits done at the Merket Center on Texas Tech campus. I believe it used to be the college president's house but now they use it for events. It's really very pretty inside and out.

I absolutely love this one.

It was pretty cold outside so we kept the outdoor shots to a minimum. Emily was a trooper, though.
